Danger Dope
Danger Dope is a project of DJ Rencong, a native of Aceh province in the island of Sumatra, Indonesia. Started in 2005 and today based in Jakarta, it is a project of hip-hop, instrumental, soul, funk, jazz, and post dubstep, which he combined with sound bites from movies, talk shows, conversations, and many other things into music he refers to as a sound collage.
Mushroom Jesus
George Wade Paulin, a.k.a. Mushroom Jesus attempts to translate his belief in an experimental project with flowing elements of hip-hop, funk, and psychedelic. Perhaps the music reflects the artist’s life and spiritual journey and asks the listener to, in his own words “think about religious dogma, question it, and come away with a better sense their own spirituality”, delivered by way of explorative rhythm and psychedelic lyrics that flirts and entertains the ears and the mind. Jesus was a mushroom and we can’t say no to that.
Brutus
Brutus compiled an array of different styles of heavy metal into one solid composition of head-banging glory. The band is an ensemble of hard-rocking metal making machine. Formed in 2007, although Brutus hails from Cairo, Egypt, the band is consisted of four musicians from four different parts of the world.
Freedom Of Choice
We’re not much of musical experts, however the first impression that we get from listening to Freedom Of Choice (F.O.C) , still a relatively new band, is a collection of different musical ideas that combines a diverse material that blends jazz, blues, funk, and rock’n’roll, into one free-flowing composition that’s worth listening to. Maybe stoney and spacey are the right words here, so open your ears, open your mind, Sit on your rocking chair, smoke that pipe, and tune in to F.O.C.
Decade Long Love Affair
Anthony Rogers got it done his way in his approach to music in Decade Long Love Affair. Poetic in lyrics and mostly acoustical in style, the music is unique, but yet still easy to approach and enjoy. Listeners will have to anticipate a new and uncategorized form of music, but yet still easily familiar to the ears. We asked him some questions to dig a little deeper to try to understand the artist behind the music, well maybe we dug a little too deep with one of our question. Read the interview and enjoy the music.
